Nani Nagarjuna DevaDas Movie Review:
The much-awaited multi-starrer movie DevaDas release today. King Nagarjuna and Natural Star Nani played the lead roles. Rashmika Mandanna and Aakanksha Singh appeared opposite Nani and Nagarjuna respectively. Bhale Manchi Roju and Shamantakamani fame Sriram Aditya directed this movie and Ashwini Dutt produced it under Vyjayanthi movies.
DevaDas movie is highly anticipated flick because there is a lack of exciting multi starrers in Telugu. An inform Nani with Nagarjuna is a special combination.
Review Of DevaDas Movie:
To tell DevaDas movie plot in a simpler way, it is how fate plays a game between two contrast personalities Deva (Nagarjuna) and Das (Nani). Deva is the most wanted underworld mafia don and Das is an MBBS and MS Gold Medalist, doctor. What changes ‘Gold’ Das brings in criminal Das is the core point?
In this movie more than Nagarjuna, Nani got the opportunity to perform. Nani is just fantastic as Dr.Das. His innocent and confused expressions were an eye feast for the audience. Nani once again proved with this movie why he is called a Natural Star.
Also, Nagarjuna is too good as Don Deva. His glamour is an added asset to the movie. He does things that he does best which are neatly weaved into the scenes. Nag and Nani pairing scenes were superbly designed by the director.
Rashmika and Aakanksha Singh were okay. Murli Sharma, Vennela Kishore, and Rao Ramesh appeared regularly doing what they do all the time, but in new professions.
Sriram Aditya has picked the basic plot from a Hollywood movie. He has suitably adapted it to Telugu film sensibilities. However, it is this sensibility changes that cause a problem to the narrative.
The mafia backdrop is kept to a minimum and the love track and comedy is given precedence. The latter elements are not smoothly woven into the screenplay and they come and go with no proper justification. Some twists are thrown in without any logic whatsoever. What we get as a result is a film where the entire burden to carry it is on the shoulders of Nagarjuna and Nani. They do their part effectively but for a whole movie to work, it needs content besides an acceptable casting. That is where DevaDas falters.
Mani Sharma music and background score are good. Photography by Shyam Dutt is very neat. Editing work in the 1st half is superb but 2nd half could have been better. At some places, both the scenes and background score end abruptly and we get a new scene. The writing could have been better.
1. Nag-Nani Pair.
3.Few comedy scenes with Nani
1. There is no drama between Nagarjuna and Nani.
2. Conflict point is too simple.
3. 2nd half
Nagarjuna and Nani make DevaDas work while the director fails.
