SWOT Analysis: Ram Charan's Zanjeer

Megapower Star Ram Charan much awaited Bollywood debut Zanjeer is all set to hit screens this Friday worldwide. With so much going on in the state chances of its run depends on external factors. But for the rest of the country where there are no such issues it ultimately comes down to the merits or demerits of the film. Let’s take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of Zanjeer.

Short run time of the film could very well end up becoming its biggest strength as it would mean a crisp and fast paced film.

The basic story of the film is a successful one that has been done many times with different backgrounds (the original Zanjeer being the trend setter). If well handled this story could instantly engage an audience.

Presence of Sanjay Dutt helps in the smaller centers, especially if the film gets an encouraging talk.

The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of weaknesses is the director of the film Apoorva Lakhia. Although he has made technically slick products in the past too, none of them have clicked barring one of course, which again owed a lot to its controversial plot.

Lack of a popular mass number that would have worked well in smaller centers as it is the primary target audience of the film.

Ram Charan may be a big star in Telugu but outside AP he isn’t that well known and for a film to work then, depends a lot on director, which takes us back to the first weakness again.

In Bollywood most of the action stuff or the masala movies are done by the senior heroes of the industry and none from the young brigade. This void therefore gives chance for Ram Charan to establish himself as an action hero.

It’s releasing against a formidable opponent Shuddh Desi Romance, a Yash Raj Production with popular music.

There is a Masti sequel and a Shahid Kapoor starrer releasing in the coming weeks which means there is not enough room to improve or grow slowly like it happened with, say, a Raanjhanaa or a Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
