Telugu Cinema Boxoffice Collections-August Month 2018:
This year August month gave a mixed result for Telugu Film Industry. Overall 21 Telugu movies released in August. Among 21, 5 movies are dubbed, and 16 are straight Telugu movies.
A Thriller Goodachari:
The month opened on a successful account on August 3rd with a thriller Goodachari. On this day, eight movies released, but all of them were flops. Apart from Goodachari, only Chi La Sow and Brand Babu got some buzz and hype in the audience. Chi La Sow remained as a below- average fare but Brand Babu was a disaster. Chi La Sow movie could have done a better performance if it didn’t clash with Goodachari. On the other hand, Goodachari became a blockbuster and highest grossing film in Adivi Sesh’s career beating Kshanam.
Srinivasa Kalyanam-Rejection By The Youth Audience:
Goodachari was followed by Srinivasa Kalyam that released on 9th August. This movie had many expectations as it is coming from Dil Raju banner. But it was entirely avoided by youth audience because of preaching screenplay. It was another disappointment for Dil Raju after Lover. Now his hopes rest on Hello Guru Prema Kosame which is releasing on 18 of October.
Another Bad Luck For Universal Star:
The next day Universal Star Kamal Haasan’s much-awaited Viswaroopam2 finally hit screens, but it didn’t satisfy the audience. It was the most bashed Kamal Haasan movie that he also doubled up as a director.
Triple Blockbuster Geetha Govindam:
Now on Independence Day came Vijay Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna’s Geetha Govindam and created a sensation at Telugu Box Office. This movie was a Baahubalian hit in mid-range films. It is continuing its run at ticket counters till today and raced towards 100 cr club. As of now, Geetha Govindam collected a share of 57 cr worldwide.
Routine Attractions After Geetha Govindam:
After Blockbuster Geetha Govindam, came Jyothika starrer and Bala directed Jhansi on 17th. Sadly, its mention only feels academic, and none remembers its arrival in the first place. 24th August saw Aadhi Pinisetty’s Neevevaro, Nara Rohith’s Aatagallu and Prabhudeva’s Lakshmi hitting the screens and disappointing the audience. These failures became an advantage to Geetha Govindam, and it got to continue its terrific run.
Geetha Govindam Dream Run Continues With Back To Back Failure Releases:
In the month end, on August 30th Naga Shaurya’s @Nartanasala was released. Though the actor had a blockbuster Chalo earlier, there was no buzz for @Nartanasala, and it was clearly visible in the openings. Also, reviews and talk didn’t come in favour of the movie and remained another failure at the box office.
The next day, i.e., on 31st Paper Boy, Sameeram, dubbing movie KoKo Kokila were released. Paper Boy got adverse reports whereas KoKo Kokila got positive but KoKoKokila didn’t convert the positive reports into collections. So, both were failures. And there is no need to talk about Sameeram.
